Psychotherapy is a process in which the client and the therapist work together in order to help resolve problems.  There may be a number of different approaches to resolve the issues you hope to address. In order to be most successful you will have to work on subjects and issues that are being addressed both during therapy session and at home.

Philosophy

Psychotherapy has both benefits and risks. Therapy often leads to a significant reduction in feeling of distress, better relationships and solutions to specific problems. It also helps to identify your strengths and resources.  At times, psychotherapy requires discussing unpleasant aspects of your life that may result in uncomfortable feelings, or other unexpected results on the path of growth.

I provide therapy to individuals struggling with depression and anxiety.  In our work together, you will examine the links between feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. You will also review your relationships with your family,  as well as your relationships with others.  I encourage clients to attempt behaviors and explore thoughts that you believe will lead to a more fulfilling life.

When working with couples, it is imperative to understand the individuals who are involved as well as their unique dynamic. The process of understanding both the individuals and their dynamic requires an extensive interview process. It is essential to understand the couple’s strengths as well as their weaknesses.  Then, we establish a unified goal for therapy.  Given a highly motivated couple, the therapy work can be dynamic and produce profound changes in the individuals.
